Who or what inspired you to become an artist?

Every time someone asks me this question.  I remember the Walt Disney character paintings that my dad drew at my third birthday party. Interestingly, even though I was very young, I remember that moment well.  My dad is very talented.  Maybe it all started at the time when I was five. I was pretty sure I was going to be a character designer or animator and working with Walt Disney and Pixar was one of my biggest fantasies.  And of course my mother played a very important role.  Choosing the best books for me from the internationally publishers, and of course my planning and management in this field.

What types of mediums do you  use most  and which are your favorites?

In visual arts I often use hand drawing and digital(which includes 2D, 3D, Matte painting, CG painting, line art and etc.) but my favorite is the mix of hand drawing and digital.

How do you approach book illustration differently than other types of art?

Well, at first i think every artist has her special taste in art so I think every artist illustration is different with others, and I also like to use positive vibes and very sharp colors in animation which is completely different from my paintings.

Where did you draw inspiration for the characters in The Cow Who Said Mo?

My special major is character design and I have grown up in an adventurous place so I know animal anatomy very well. I also read the story of this book so I tried to use for every single character their special figures, and I have tried to mix human and animal anatomy together and finally for more attractive result . Technically, I used line art and flat color surfaces.

What would you like people to know about the world you helped shape in this book?

Well at first this is a teamwork and based on our conversations with Steve we thought that the best method is colored line art why? Because at the start of the book it’s all black and white and when you go further everyone has a color for themselves so I think the best thing for this book that I would like people to know is that “don’t be scared to be you!”
